Erongo Rural Women’s Assembly Hosts Two-Day Environmental Sustainability Dialogue and Capacity-Building Session

On 19–20 June, the Erongo Rural Women’s Assembly convened a two-day environmental sustainability dialogue and capacity-building session in Omatjete, Daures Constituency, Erongo Region. The event brought together rural women and key knowledge holders to exchange insights on sustainable practices, human–wildlife coexistence, and community-driven conservation strategies.

 

Experts from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Environment, the Elephant Human Relations Aid (EHRA), and the Greater Omatjete Elephant Committee contributed their expertise, enriching discussions with practical solutions and local perspectives.

 

The initiative aimed to equip rural women with the knowledge and tools needed to play an active role in environmental stewardship while strengthening sustainable practices within their communities.

 

The session concluded with a scenic drive through the natural landscape and a heritage hike, offering participants a deeper appreciation of their environment and the cultural significance of the land.
